Nakara Long Beach Resort

I was reluctant to reserve after reading some bad comments but really, there was nothing to be worried about. Great location, excellent staff service, excellent breakfast. Rooms are clean, pools are amazing, beach front is beautiful. Yes, there is not a lot of shade in the afternoon and yes, there could be repairs/renovations here and there but this is consistent with other places in Thailand I’ve been. I recommend this place!

We had a nice stay overall, but there were a few things that we were not that happy with. If we had known these, we probably would have chosen a different resort.

Rooms
- Thin walls. Difficult to sleep after 7 am because of staff walkie talkies, bird noises, foot traffic.
- Staff forgot to leave clean towels twice.
- Shower has very low pressure and the drain was clogged.

Restaurant / cafe / breakfast
- They did not serve fresh orange juice. May not be important for everyone but that’s what I always look forward to.
- They also did not serve fresh coconuts.
- The service at the beach cafe was very slow. I waited 10 minutes for a bottle of water and a glass of boxed juice.
- Breakfast was decent, nothing to complain about, but we chose to go elsewhere most days.

Pool
- Wooden flooring in dark brown wood, which made it so hot that you burned your feet without footwear.
- No parasols/umbrellas

Now to the positives.
- The beach was fantastic
- The paths to and from the rooms were beautiful and cozy
- Almost all staff was very friendly and nice

The location was the best part, right in front of the beach with peace and beautiful sunsets. Breakfast was decent as well. Those are the only 2 good things worth mentioning.

Many of the staff were super nice!

One pool, the more peaceful one hasn’t seen cleaning in a while, the floors, the walls are super dirty (literally brown spots). The sunbeds over there are reserved from the morning which is pathetic how that’s even allowed, people putting towels there and not even being by the pool, it feels like middle school. This shouldn’t be allowed. The other pool is better but super noisy, and also fully reserved from the morning and little sunbeds with no umbrellas for shade at all.

Half the towels are more rags than towels. Holes in them and way overused.

The hotel is run down and really needs renovation.

The restaurant has a tour coming twice a day so it fills up and get busy with people outside of the resort, also very slow service.

+ The 'Luxury bungalows' are spacious and fresh, ours had a large terrace and partially unobstructed sea view.
+ The resort is located directly beach-side on Long Beach, which is a very nice beach.
+ The footprint of the resort is reasonably large, and the bungalows dont feel cramped together and with spacious walking paths.

- Everything about the resort feels cheap. An example being the the decking area by the pool using the cheapest material that gets very hot in the sun, easy to burn your feet.
- Far to much chlorine used in the pool, eyes were burning after a short swim.
- The resort and gardens are not maintained very well. Some bungalows look like they may fall apart with planks falling of the walls and cracking foundations.
- The street leading down to the hotel fron the main road was lined with junk, wouldnt want to walk down it once it gets dark.
- Check-in was slightly chaotic and poorly coordinated.
- Breakfast was chaotic and did not taste very nice, not enough seating and coffee in particular bad.
- The limited pool chairs were always 'reserved' ans there was no umbrellas and difficult to find shade. Nearby resorts had more trees lining their pools areas.
- The gym can not be called a gym, barely any equipment.
- A boat of russian tourists groups arrived daily for lunch at the hotel restaurant, joke is on them as the restaurant food was not great.

Paid €147 per night in Feb 2026. Long beach has an overall awkward tourists proposition as it is hard to find a comfortable mid-price 4-star hotel. 3-star Nakara is not expensive and at times nice but has various issues, whilst next-door 5-star Layana resort is clearly overpriced at €500-€600 per night with no middle ground options.

Overall hotel, massages, and scooter rentals are 30% higher on Long Beach than Klong Kong 10 minutes to the south.

Nakara Longbeach Resort benefits from an excellent seaside location, which is by far its main strength. Unfortunately, the property does not live up to its potential due to a clear lack of maintenance and attention to detail.

The villas are adequate but dated, particularly the bathrooms. The garden areas around the villas are poorly maintained, and overall daily upkeep of the property appears minimal. This significantly impacts the overall impression.

The restaurant is not worth a visit despite the sea view. The mismatched plastic and wooden furniture creates an uninviting atmosphere and lacks any sense of comfort or quality.

The pool area offers little to no shade and is furnished with cheap plastic lounge chairs. Parasols are no longer provided, despite appearing in older photos, with wind cited as the reason—an explanation that seems questionable given nearby properties manage this without issue.

Staff are a clear positive: friendly, attentive, and generally helpful. We also experienced several power outages during our stay, which were resolved quickly, but—as with other issues—there was no sign of any effort to address the underlying problems.

Overall, the resort’s location and staff cannot fully compensate for its poor maintenance and short-term approach to problem-solving.
