Dragon's Crest (Ngon Nak Nature Trail)

The Dragon’s Crest hike was absolutely fantastic! We’re staying in a nearby hotel so arrived early to beat the heat. It was a pacey 3 hour return hike for us - reasonably fit, had hiking sticks - and not scary or technically difficult but lots of roots and rocks on the trail to look out for and a few steep areas (either with ropes or steps or a bit of rock scrambling). Amazing views at the summit, gorgeous canopy along the way and beautiful plants and monkeys! Entrance fee was 200 baht per person, cafe and toilet at the base. I had sore thighs the next day but would definitely do it again!

Super happy I hiked here, but it’s definitely not a walk in the park. I read a review from someone saying they did it in an hour - I honestly think they’re delusional. Strava estimated it’s around 10 km total (all the way up).

Even if you’re athletic, unless you do the hike at the crack of dawn, it’s going to be hot and humid and that’s going to slow you down.

It’s beautiful, totally worth it for me, but you need to reserve 3-4 hours for this, especially if you like to take pictures. And bring at least 2 litres of water per person. + Sturdy shoes, snacks to fuel yourself.

Very great, but also challenging hiking trail! We didn't know what to expect at the beginning, but it completely blew us away. This great view and the hiking trail were totally fun for us. I would advise everyone to wear sturdy shoes, as it is already very rocky in some places and you can easily bend over. Along the way, you'll always meet rangers who give you information about when you should be back down. It took us about 3-4 hours to get there and return, but we also visited all the spots. I can only recommend this trail to everyone!

I hiked up Dragon Crest (Ngon Nak) and it was absolutely worth the effort! It seems to open at 6am, which is a great time to start before it gets too hot.
It took me about 1.5 hours to reach the top, and it’s definitely a solid workout. The trail has lots of tree roots and loose rocks, so you need to watch your footing carefully. There are also some stairs along the way that are not in the best condition, which makes parts of the climb a bit more challenging.
Make sure to bring enough water — I drank 1.5 liters during the hike and really needed it. The humidity and heat can be intense.
At the summit, you’re rewarded with an incredible 360° panoramic view over Krabi’s stunning landscape. The dramatic karst limestone cliffs and rock formations that the Krabi area is famous for look absolutely spectacular from above, rising out of the jungle and coastline. The view alone makes the climb completely worth it.
You need to buy a 200 THB ticket to enter the national park. After passing the barrier, you’ll find the ticket counter about 200 meters further in, where you can also park your car or scooter. Right at the start of the trail, there’s a small café selling refreshments, perfect for grabbing a cold drink before or after the hike.
Challenging, scenic, and highly recommended if you’re visiting Krabi!

Absolutely amazing this will save your holiday if you're a bit disappointed with Ao nang beach and the crowds. The views from up there are unreal 360° if you go to multiple viewpoints up there. The whole trek was very uphill, a bit under 5 hours for us, we did eat some snacks and take loads of pictures at all the viewpoints we found. Get ready to sweat like crazy, it's super humid and hot. Bring sturdy shoes (we saw flipflopers giving up and returning at the very beginning), bring water and snacks! We had 1,5l per person and it was just about, I'd recommend a bit more. Some people saw cool monkeys, we only saw lizards. The waterfall on the way isn't worth, it's super tiny. Entrance is 200thb + 30 for stick rental if you need it. They let last people on the trek at 2pm and they'll tell you to return by 4pm but we got back at 17:30 some people even later and it was completely fine. At the bottom they sell water and sodas which is nice after the hike. There are tuktuks waiting to bring you back to your hotel:)
