About Krabi and Koh Lanta
Krabi province on Thailand's Andaman coast is famous for limestone cliffs, clear water, and easy access to islands such as Phi Phi, Hong Island, and local four-island loops. Koh Lanta sits within this network of beaches, piers, and national park zones, making it practical for both short holidays and week-long stays. Infrastructure has improved steadily — ATMs, mini-marts, clinics, and tour counters are common — yet the region still feels more relaxed than busier beach hubs.
Check In Krabi publishes guides, hotel lists, restaurant picks, and public place notes to help visitors compare options before they book. Always cross-check ferry times, park fees, and national holiday crowds because conditions change by season. Respect marine parks: avoid single-use plastic on boats, do not stand on coral, and follow staff instructions during snorkeling stops.

Great 2 night stay at the Houben Hotel in Koh Lanta. Booked this for half of our 4 nights in the area as had great reviews and it being adults only was a good selling point for us. Service was fantastic, really friendly team of staff here. Breakfast was the best we've had in Thailand so far, lots of options and they cook to order so no food waste from buffet. The big draw to this hotel is the view from the pool area to the bay, they have a happy hour at 5-7pm every night where its 2 for 1 on cocktails, and you can watch the sun set and may even be joined by the neighbouring monkeys too. Only slight negative but didn't effect our overall experience or rating - the rooms are in need of some tlc. Lots of scuffs and marks, bubbled caulking/sealant - honestly wouldn't take much to improve and would make it more of a 5 star resort. That being said, we would come back and would recommend to anyone to stay here too.
03/02/2026 12:08We enjoyed our stay at the Houben Hotel. The location is fantastic, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel is a bit dated in some areas, but this is more than made up for by its charm and warm, family-like atmosphere thanks to the small number of rooms.
A very special highlight: from time to time, a monk from a nearby temple visits the hotel to offer a free meditation session - a really cool and unique experience.
There are so many great restaurants nearby, such as Pad Thai Rock n Roll, an Indian restaurant, Black Swan and more. The beach is only about a 5-minute walk away and offers great bars to enjoy the evenings. We truly had a wonderful time!
This hotel could be unique in its own way. It is small, family-run, and the staff is consistently friendly. The rooms are large, spacious, and bright with a beautiful view of the sea. Breakfast is served a la carte with a good selection; it is plentiful and tasty.
Unfortunately, there are some flaws that dampen the stay. There is a distinct lack of maintenance. Many things are broken and simply not repaired. The air conditioning is loud, and the outdoor area—especially the pool—could be designed to be much more cozy. The sunbeds show significant defects and are not being maintained. Overall, the place is just missing a loving hand to make it truly welcoming.
One tip regarding the location: The hotel is a bit secluded. To explore the island, it is an advantage to rent a scooter, as taxi prices on the island are many times more expensive than elsewhere in Thailand.
My husband and I spent 8 wonderful days at The Houben and truly loved our time there. We were initially placed on the first level, but thanks to Tak and the team’s flexibility, we were moved up to the third floor, which gave us an even more incredible view of the pool and the ocean. It made such a difference and we were really grateful for it.
The room was spotless every single day. Housekeeping was incredibly thorough—fresh bath and beach towels daily, clean floors, and overall attention to detail that went above and beyond what we expected.
During our stay, we often walked to the nearby main street (literally a one-minute walk) where there’s a 7/11, plenty of great restaurant options, and lots of scooter rental spots, which made getting around super easy. We also loved heading to the nearby beach for sunset—it became one of our favorite parts of the day. We enjoyed breakfast at The Houben and ate at the hotel restaurant a few times as well. The small gym was a nice bonus too, with weights, yoga mats, and a treadmill—perfect for a simple workout.
We would absolutely love to come back and highly recommend The Houben if you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing place with beautiful views. The staff truly made our stay special and so comfortable. We’ll miss you, Tak, Mung, Auf, Golf, Meow, and Eric—and of course Miaomiao, the sweetest cat.
Thank you again for such a memorable stay. We’ll be talking about our time at The Houben for a long time.
I recently enjoyed a wonderful three-day solo trip at The Houben - Adult Only, and it was the perfect escape.
The cliffside location provides absolutely stunning, unforgettable sea views—especially at sunset. It’s the ideal backdrop for a truly relaxing break.
Despite its boutique size, the hotel offers a personalized and intimate atmosphere. The staff are exceptionally warm, attentive, and genuinely made me feel welcome and well-cared for, even traveling alone. Their service is world-class.
My room was modern, quiet, and spotlessly clean, offering a private space to unwind completely. The red infinity pool is gorgeous and serene.
