From Ao Nang you can combine dining with short trips to viewpoints, markets, and boat piers for Four Islands or Phi Phi departures. Plan lunch before afternoon tours or dinner after sunset for the best rhythm.

Practical tips

  • Visit slightly before standard lunch or dinner peaks to avoid queues.
  • Carry cash; some local restaurants prefer it for small bills.
  • Mention allergies or chili level when ordering — Thai dishes can be spicy by default.
  • Pair your meal with bottled water and reef-safe sunscreen if you continue to the beach.

Best time to visit

The dry season from November to April usually brings calmer seas and easier road access around Ao Nang. Shoulder months can offer better hotel and restaurant availability with shorter queues. During monsoon, some beach roads flood briefly — always check live weather and pier notices before island day trips.

About Krabi and Ao Nang

Krabi province on Thailand's Andaman coast is famous for limestone cliffs, clear water, and easy access to islands such as Phi Phi, Hong Island, and local four-island loops. Ao Nang sits within this network of beaches, piers, and national park zones, making it practical for both short holidays and week-long stays. Infrastructure has improved steadily — ATMs, mini-marts, clinics, and tour counters are common — yet the region still feels more relaxed than busier beach hubs.

Check In Krabi publishes guides, hotel lists, restaurant picks, and public place notes to help visitors compare options before they book. Always cross-check ferry times, park fees, and national holiday crowds because conditions change by season. Respect marine parks: avoid single-use plastic on boats, do not stand on coral, and follow staff instructions during snorkeling stops.

Booked for romantic meal for two people
1st issue is that as it’s popular to instagram people etc it became a not romantic meal but a photo shoot with consent photo taking, people wandering round table which made it not possible for a romantic meal and there was so many staff just waiting around watching you did not help with the romantic side.
2nd big problem food
Food and drinks were expensive highest we paid in all Thailand in a month and small drinks
Food order
Starter was good tasted ok was hot
Main course fish share platter 3000brt was awful mostly cold items and that was on putting it on table you expect it to go cold as outside. The squid dry chewy and cold mussels were cold and not nice prawns were ok fish was good taste and only thing that was hot, scallops were strange not prepped well and had dry crispy parts attached that didn’t taste good the garlic bread was as dry as can be. Overall food was not good and had lot better at other local restaurants and yes I was on the toilet all night and I mean all night. Great setting to many people just there for photo shoot and no thought for those eating around them , overpriced , really poor food being served.

We recently visited Hilltop and unfortunately had to leave early due to a personal emergency. However, the drinks and starters we enjoyed were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.

The views from the restaurant are amazing and create such a special atmosphere. It’s a stunning location, and I would love to return to enjoy the full experience properly.

I also want to sincerely thank the team for their outstanding customer service. They were incredibly understanding and professionally arranged a refund for the dishes we didn’t receive, even after I had already flown to Bangkok. Their communication and support were truly appreciated.

A restaurant that genuinely cares about its customers. Highly recommended — and we hope to visit again soon!

Notwithstanding the mixed reviews, our family of 9 decided to dine here on our last night in Krabi. We loved the vibes of dining outdoor, blessed with cool breezy night and the live music. 5 stars for ambiance. Service was mixed - 3 stars, we had some attentive and efficient servers but some had trouble understanding English. Food was generally okay - loved the squid cooked in ink while the rest were okay. We took the set menu to save time since there's 9 of us. Overall an enjoyable experience.

We had a green what and rice and fries. The large rice is literally enough for 4-5 people, they won’t tell you portions are huge and to share, so don’t order too much. The green Thai was amazing and the view was lovely. They offer pick up, I would definitely get it. We didn’t and the hill is steep and effort, not for elderly or anything like that. They dropped us off at our hotel after the meal too which was a nice addition. Overall I definitely recommend this place.

The Hilltop Ao Nang truly lives up to its reputation. The food is top-notch so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Moreover, the real highlight is the view. It’s honestly one of the most stunning real sea views you can find in Krabi, overlooking the ocean especially during sunset. It’s a perfect place to relax, enjoy good food, and take in the scenery. They also have live music and DJ, which makes the evening even more enjoyable!!

If you’re visiting Krabi, this is definitely a place I would recommend for both the experience and the view. ☀️
